At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Smithville Regional Hospital Auxiliary on Tuesday January, 19, 2010, Norolene Corder, SRH Financial Officer, kindly and ably served as the installing official for the following slate of elected officers who will direct the volunteer group during the fifteenth year of continuing service to the hospital, its patients, and staff.

President Peggy Walicek, Vice-president    Dorothy Dillon, Secretary Marilyn Johnson,   Treasurer Nancy Janecek

The well attended meeting, held at the First National Bank community room, included over half of the active membership and they were individually presented with Service Bars reflecting their many volunteer hours of service during the past year. Since the organization began operation, its volunteers have amassed over 58,900 hours of creditable service.

In addition to their visible service at the hospital, the auxiliary is proud of its somewhat less visible, but extremely beneficial, Nursing Scholarship Program which has raised and awarded roughly thirty-five thousand dollars in grant scholarships thus far. This is an ongoing program requiring periodic fund-raisers to provide continuing funding. One such event will be a bake sale on February 12th in the conference room of the hospital; and, you may currently purchase tickets for the fourth annual quilt raffle which will be awarded during the upcoming Jamboree festivities. Your support of these important funding activities will assist in the continuation of this valuable nursing skills enhancement program.

Preceding the installation and meeting, the members and visitors enjoyed an excellent luncheon prepared and catered especially for the occasion by SRH and Bistro71 Chef, John Chabot.
