Drive by chili

I told you that you would not be disappointed by the chili choices at the Paige Volunteer Fire Department’s annual chili fundraiser. Thanks to all the hard work of the firefighters and their families, they offered three kinds of chili – mild, spicy and Call the Fire Department (there’s a fire in my mouth!). I went with Call the Fire Department and it was great! I needed a lot of water but wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks guys.

Greg Webb was telling me they had a good turn out.

The Paige Fire Department would like to thank each and everyone of you for coming and making this a great success again this year.

Crackers

Crackers for Vets received $43 in cash and 15 packages of crackers from the Paige 4-H Club and donations from the public. This will actually feed 432 veterans. They will purchase the crackers Monday and bring them along with new T-shirts and sweat shirts being donated by Chris Liston, branch manager for Lanehart Electric.

The clothing will go to a new facility on Oltorf that handles veterans that are mentally impaired and are homeless. Thanks to everyone for helping out on a very worthy project.

Sportsmen’s Banquet

I had a wonderful time Saturday night when my husband and I attended the fourth annual Bastrop Sportsmen’s Banquet in Rockne.

The purpose is to generate resources and programs benefiting Bastrop education. There was a silent auction, live auction and a drawing.

They did a fantastic job cooking the steaks and the bread pudding was the best I have ever had the pleasure to eat.

4-H news

THE 4-H Club did a great job at the bake sale Saturday. Your generosity was noted. The children raised $383.51 which will help them go to camp.

Great work by parents and the kids. We want to thank the fire department for their support and the local ladies for baking for us and a special thanks to Ms. Bernice, you are a good friend of the 4-H.

Lions

The Paige Lions Club is requesting donations of medical equipment for Haiti. Please contact Rosie Raney at 512-253-6105 if you have any questions or have a donation.
