Smithville First United Methodist Church will be hosting its 3rd annual Trivia Night, open to the entire community, on February 19 at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. This event will be held again in the church’s Ragsdale Crockett Family Activity Center. The donation for a table is $80, and each table can accommodate a team of up to 8 people.  The winning team will receive a cash prize of $100 and the bragging rights for this year.  A silent auction will be held during this event. Snacks and refreshments will be available for a donation.

In this event’s first two years, funds were raised to help victims of hurricanes along the Gulf Coast with building materials and mission teams from the church. This year’s Trivia Night funds will help the humanitarian and spiritual work of Middleman Ministries in Matamoros, Mexico. This ministry helps the poor in that area with essential needs, such as housing, food, and education. The First United Methodist Church has supported this ministry’s work for the needy in that area for some time. This year a team of youth and adult volunteers from the church will travel to Matamoros to help first-hand with housing and a much-needed freshwater pumping system.

You may sign up for your team’s table at the church’s office at 4th and Olive Streets, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm on weekdays.  Babysitting will be provided by the church.  If you have any questions about Trivia Night, please call the church office at 237-3325.
