Obit Trlica MarvinMarvin J. Trlica, 83, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2010. He was born to Marie and Willie Trlica in Smithville, Texas on June 29th, 1926.

He is survived by one brother, William L. Trlica and wife Marilyn; loving daughter, Diana Khajavi and husband, Homayoun, and two wonderful granddaughters, Yasmin and Maryam Khajavi. Several nieces, nephews and cousins around Texas will also remember Marvin.

Marvin’s folks owned a grocery store in Smithville and he learned about the grocery business at an early age. Later, he was employed by three stores in town. His career was interrupted by WWII. He began working in the Austin Chalk Formation. Later, he moved to West Texas to the oil fields and was involved in construction, Roustabout, and drilling for oil and gas.

After many months in the oil patch he moved to Vancouver, Washington and managed several grocery stores. From there he moved to Spokane, Washington where he lived to retirement. Marvin was a resident of Spokane for over 52 years. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #38 of Kovar, Texas for more than 60 years as well as a long-time member of Elks Lodge, the BOF Club and a member of the Valley Senior Center.

Marvin was devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was baptized in the Czechoslovakian Moravian Brethren Church at Kovar, Texas. While in Spokane, Marvin attended the Berean Bible Church for many years.

Marvin was a loving father to his daughter, granddaughters, his family, and his beloved companion, Jeanette King. Services will be held in the chapel at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.  Interment follows at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville with Presbyterian Pastor Jane Johnson, presiding.
