• Army Reserve Pvt. Shaun T. Mosqueda has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Scot Mosqueda of Seventh Ave., Smithville, Texas. Mosqueda is a 2009 graduate of Smithville High School.

• Army PV1 Michael Martinez, Smithville High School class of 2008, graduated from basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga. on Dec. 17, 2009. Martinez is the son of Sabrina Crowell of Rosanky and Eddie and Carolyn Martinez of Leander. Grandparents are Jess and Nancy Crowell of Rosanky.

Martinez is now at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

• Army Pvt. Nicholas B. Allison has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

He is the son of Keith A. Allison of Bush Road, West Point, Texas, and Shastina E. Barnes of Short St., Smithville, Texas.

The private is a 2009 graduate of Bastrop High School, Texas.
