The Rosanky community recently lost one of its former citizens, Robert Hofferek. Robert passsed away on Jan. 23. Robert was the son of William and Mary Hofferek. He farmed and ranched along with his parents and siblings.
He had many fond memories of school, church and social activities with friends. He married Mary Ann in 1963 and they resided in Smithville. He owned Robert’s Appliance Service in Smithville.
He leaves two sons, Mike and Mark and four grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Community Center
Rosanky Community Center is having it’s annual barbecue and fundraiser Saturday Feb. 27. Barbecue plates are $7 and are being served from 4-6 p.m.
A live auction begins at 6 p.m. Come out and support the school.
Chocolate Caramel Bars
2-1/4 cups all purpose flour, divided
2 cups quick cooking oats
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tespoon salt
1-1/2 cups cold butter or margarine
2 cups (12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 jar (12 ounces) caramel ice cream topping
In a small bowl, combine 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Set half aside for topping. Press the remaining crumb mixture into a greased 13×9 by 2 in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and pecans. Whisk caramel topping and remaining flour until smooth; drizzle over top. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours before cutting. Yield: about 4-1/2 dozen.
