During their very first track meet of the season in La Grange last Thursday, the varsity boys team took first place overall, while the girls came in fifth.

Several would argue that the Smithville Tigers (8-16, 2-8 District 25-3A) have had quite a difficult and frustrating season. Their last game of the season against La Grange on Tuesday, Feb. 16, gave a little taste of that frustration.

A rare winter storm brought large flakes of softly falling snow to downtown Smithville on Tuesday. Dozens of people around town took time to go outside and catch some snow.
