During their track meet in Columbus last Thursday, the varsity Lady Tigers faced a few obstacles, one being that they were missing a few athletes who were busy with other activities.
However, they were able to come in sixth out of nine total teams, with 54 points overall.
“It was a tough meet, but overall the athletes did okay,” said head coach T.J. Christian. “We were competing with district competition, so now we know what we need to work toward to have good results in the end.”
Tiyanna Sampson placed third in the 200-meter dash, finishing at 28.27 seconds.
Meanwhile, Shelby Davee came in third in the 400-meter dash, ending with a time of 64.5 seconds, and fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of two minutes and 38 seconds.
As for the 300-meter hurdles, Anna Spangler placed third, running a total of 51.85 seconds. She also placed second in the triple jump, reaching 33’4 1/2”.
In shot put, Magen Weinheimer placed third, throwing 33’1”, while LaQuandra Fletcher placed fourth, throwing 33’3/4”.
Meanwhile, Jaimie Kadlecek got third in discus, throwing 100’9”.
As for the 800-meter relay, Ashley Cardwell, Maygan Washington, Spangler and Sampson came in sixth, running a total  of one minute and 55 seconds.
Lastly, in the 1600-meter relay, Cardwell, Shelby Davee, Rachael Davee and Spangler came in fourth at four minutes and 23 seconds.
