A fundraiser initiated by local Bastrop children to help the Bastrop County Animal Shelter will encourage children up to the age of 18 to use their creative, artistic skills. The event is an art contest and entries will hang in downtown Bastrop storefronts. Local artisans and photographers will judge the entries.

Entries should be 8 x 10 original photographs or 8 1/2 x 11 original artwork (paint, draw, sketch, collage or mosaic). Entries need to be received by Aug. 16 at First National Bank in Bastrop, either downtown or the main branch on Texas 71.

Entry forms can be picked up at downtown businesses, Petco and the Bastrop Public Library.

First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded in each age group. Entries should be submitted with a $5 donation per entry.
