Rosanky Baptist Christian Academy will have teacher in-service days on Aug. 25, 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Meanwhile, parent orientation will be held on Monday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m.

School will be starting soon and all of the parents and students are getting back to their daily routines. Seems like summer went by in a hurry.

Rosanky Community Center

The Rosanky Community Center meetings and pot luck supper are now being held on the second Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Plan to attend – we need to make plans for the Fall Fling fundraiser.

The weather was hot and dry this year and our garden was smaller than usual.

I didn’t can very much, just a few black-eyed peas and several jars of dill pickles.

Pecan Crispies

1/2-cup shortening

1/2-cup butter or margarine

2 1/2 cups brown sugar

2 well-beaten eggs

2 1/2 cups sifted flour

1/2-teaspoon soda

1/4-teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped pecans

Thoroughly cream shortening, butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture; add nuts. Drop from teaspoon, about two inches apart, onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in oven under moderate heat (350 degrees) for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes five dozen.
