Playhouse Smithville presents “A Cole Porter Valentine” on Feb. 4-5 and 11-14. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 is a 2 p.m. matinee with no meal. Tickets are $20 ($10 without dinner) and can be purchased at playhousesmithville.com or by calling (512) 360-7397.
This show is the first musical revue and dinner theatre at the Playhouse. A gifted cast of 19 performers fill the 50-seat black box theatre with energy, excitement, wit, attitude and charm.
“This show is about two things,” said john daniels jr. (sic), artistic director. “These incredible songs and our performers. The legacy is the music. The music as the listener enjoys it and as the performer enjoys presenting it.”
When asked if there is any history in the show, daniels explains, “Of course. Like Porter himself ,we will give you just enough to appreciate the man and how his personality and life influenced his work, but this is no history class. It a Cole Porter party, in fact, a Cole Porter Valentine party.”
It promises to be a great date. As Cole Porter says, “Let’s misbehave…” together at Playhouse Smithville.

Having fun in the Cole Porter musical review will be: front, left to right, Geoffrey Goerlitz, Hank Nations, Jordan Underwood, Michael Austin, Megan Mossman and Matthew Torrez; and back, left to right, Bonnie Watts, Josh Garza, Hannah Simpson, Lisa Picciandra, Jim Woodruff, Jamie Damon, Kayla Jo Williams, Brad Wilbourn and Jennifer Sitton.

Wow ! What a show this is going to be. I am a great fan of the incredible Cole Porter and his work. Too bad I am unable to attend; however, I console myself knowing that I helped restore Cole’s Birthplace in Peru, Indiana.
Best wishes in your performance.
What fun to see Cousin Cole’s music being practiced for a show just 80 miles from my Husband, Sid Kubesch’s birthplace! We live in Peru, Cole’s birthplace.
Break a leg, you enthusiastic Texans! Maybe our Lake Jackson, Victoria and Houston Friends and relatives can catch the show.–good luck.
